Create a Bill Report

What this helps you do: Create a report that tracks bills, their status, and legislative movement, so you can monitor progress and share clear updates with your team or clients.

How it works

Bill reports are built around individual bills, not meetings.

Each bill appears once in the report and includes:

  • Legislative status and progress

  • Key dates and actions

  • Sponsors and committees

  • Your team’s tracking data (priority, position, assignee, labels)

Once a report is created as a Bill report, it cannot be changed to a Calendar report later.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Start a new report

  1. Open the Reports area.

  2. Select Create report.

  3. Choose Bill report.

2. Choose your report mode

  1. Select Dynamic (recommended) or Manual.

  2. Leave Dynamic selected unless you explicitly need a fixed snapshot.

3. Review the default filters

When the report opens, you’ll see default settings applied, such as:

  • No groups selected

  • All session years visible

  • No date filters applied

The preview updates immediately as you adjust filters.

4. Narrow the bills you want to track

Use the Filters tab to narrow results by:

  • Groups – client- or project-specific bill lists

  • Keywords – topics or phrases in bill text or titles

  • Session years – active legislative sessions

  • Active vs inactive – current or prior-session bills

You can combine filters to create focused views like “high-priority bills with movement this week.”

5. Preview your report

As you adjust filters:

  • Bills appear or disappear in real time

  • You can immediately confirm whether the report matches your intent

6. Customize content and layout (optional)

  1. Open Content & Layout.

  2. Choose which bill fields and tracking data appear.

  3. Adjust sorting and organization.

7. Download or save the report

  • Download immediately for one-off reports

  • Save the report if you plan to:

    • Share it

    • Schedule it

    • Reuse it later

Tips

  • Use Groups first, then add keywords or status filters.

  • Dynamic bill reports are ideal for weekly or biweekly status updates.

  • If a report feels too long, reduce fields in Content & Layout.
