User Preference Filters

What this helps you do: Filter bill reports using your team’s tracking data—like priority, position, assignee, and labels—so reports reflect ownership and intent, not just raw bill data.

Before you start

You must be creating or editing a Bill report.


How it works

User preference filters are based on how your team has tagged and managed bills inside the platform.

These filters let you answer questions like:

  • What are our high-priority bills?

  • Which bills do we support or oppose?

  • Who on the team owns each bill?


Priority

The Priority filter limits bills based on importance levels set by your team.

Common uses

  • Weekly executive updates (high priority only)

  • Internal workload planning

  • Client-facing priority lists


Position

The Position filter reflects your team’s stance on a bill, such as:

  • Support

  • Oppose

  • Monitor

This is especially useful for advocacy and lobbying workflows.


Assignees

The Assignees filter shows bills owned by specific team members.

Use this to:

  • Create workload views for individuals

  • Track coverage and accountability

  • Identify unassigned bills


Labels

Labels are custom tags defined by your team.

They’re often used for:

  • Issue areas

  • Campaigns

  • Internal categorizations

Labels give you flexible filtering without creating new groups.


Groups (elevated)

Groups appear prominently here because they are often used alongside user preference filters.

Groups represent structured bill sets, while priorities, positions, and labels add meaning on top.


How these filters work together

User preference filters are cumulative.

For example:

  • Groups: Client A – Priority

  • Priority: High

  • Assignee: Jane Smith

Results in:

High-priority bills for Client A owned by Jane Smith


Tips

  • Use Groups to define scope, then refine with priority or position.

  • If reports feel too narrow, remove assignee filters first.

  • Labels are best for flexible tagging that may change over time.

Why don’t I see bills I expect?
Check whether those bills have the required priority, position, or assignee set.

Are these filters shared across my team?
Yes. They reflect shared tracking data, not personal preferences.

What if a bill has no priority or assignee?
It will be excluded if those filters are enabled.
