Report Download Formats Explained

What this helps you do: Choose the right download format for your report based on how you plan to use or share it.

Before you start

You must be viewing a report in the editor.

How it works

Reports can be downloaded in several formats.
Each format is designed for a different use case—presentation, editing, analysis, or calendar integration.

You select the format from the Download menu.

PDF – Condensed

The Condensed PDF format is optimized for readability and efficiency.

Best for

  • Quick client updates

  • Email attachments

  • Reports with many bills

Key features

  • Compact layout

  • Optional page breaks between bills

  • Controls for:

    • Font size

    • Margins

    • Line spacing

    • Paragraph vs line breaks

Page breaks ensure a bill never splits across pages.

PDF – Rich

The Rich PDF format is designed for polished, packet-style reports.

Best for

  • Client-facing deliverables

  • Formal presentations

  • Executive summaries

Key features

  • Supports a table of contents

  • More visual spacing and structure

  • Uses the same core content as condensed PDF

Layout controls (font, margins, spacing) continue to expand for this format.

Word (.docx)

The Word format mirrors your selected content and layout, but allows further editing.

Best for

  • Reports that need annotations or edits

  • Internal collaboration

  • Copying content into other documents

A table of contents tied to report settings is planned for future updates.

Excel

The Excel format exports report data in a flat, tabular structure.

Best for

  • Sorting and filtering

  • Pivot tables

  • Further analysis

Excel downloads focus on data, not presentation.

ICS (Calendar file)

The ICS format adds meetings from a calendar report to your calendar.

Best for

  • Personal or team scheduling

  • Viewing hearings and meetings alongside other commitments

Recent improvements ensure all bills in a meeting appear in each calendar event.

Additional details (like priorities or positions) may be added over time.

Tips

  • Use Condensed PDF for large reports.

  • Use Rich PDF when presentation matters.

  • Use Excel for internal analysis.

  • Use ICS when timing matters more than detail.

Common questions

Does changing formats affect the report itself?
No. Formats change output only.

Can I download the same report in multiple formats?
Yes. You can download as many formats as needed.

Why does Excel look different from PDF?
Excel prioritizes data structure, not layout.
