See How Legislators Voted on a Bill
Understanding how each legislator votes on a bill is key to tracking its journey. You can easily find and explore detailed voting records for any bill, giving you a clear picture of its support in the legislature.
Viewing a Bill's Vote History
- From a specific bill's page, locate the Votes section. This area shows a summary of the most recent votes.
- If the bill has a long voting history, click the See all button to navigate to a page that lists every recorded vote.
- On the Votes page, each vote is presented on its own card with summary details, including the date, the result (Passed or Failed), and the total counts for
Yes
andNo
votes.
Filtering Votes by Chamber
To narrow down the results, you can filter the votes by the legislative chamber.
- Use the dropdown menu, initially set to All Votes, and select either House or Senate to see votes from only that chamber.
Exploring the Detailed Vote Breakdown
To see exactly how each legislator voted, simply click on any vote card to expand it.
Once expanded, you will see a detailed breakdown with legislators grouped into the following categories:
- Yes: Legislators who voted in favor.
- No: Legislators who voted against.
- Not Voting: Legislators who were present but abstained from voting.
- Absent: Legislators who were not present for the vote.
Next to each legislator's name, their party affiliation is displayed. You can also click on a legislator's name to go directly to their profile page for more information.
