Understanding the 4 Portal Sections
The portal is organized into 4 tabs:
1. Account Overview
Your billing and subscription hub. Check when you'll be charged, download invoices, update payment methods, view your active seats, and request additional access.
Go here to:
See your next invoice date
Check if you have a balance due
Download past invoices
View which states you have access to
Reassign seats between team members
Request additional seats or states
2. Team Members
Manage who has access to your State Affairs account. Invite colleagues, remove former employees, change user permissions, and track who's using which seats.
Go here to:
Invite new team members
Deactivate users who no longer need access
Change someone's role (make them Admin or Member)
See who's currently active
Reactivate former users
Search your team by name or email
3. Profile Settings
Control your personal experience. Configure when and how you receive notifications, set your homepage state, and update your password.
Go here to:
Reduce email volume (switch to daily digest)
Get real-time alerts for critical bills
Change when your daily summary arrives (6 AM, 12 PM, or 6 PM)
Set which state appears first when you log in
Change your password
4. Label Settings
Create custom tags to organize bills your way. Build labels for priority levels, issue areas, team ownership, or your organization's position on legislation.
Go here to:
Create new labels ("High Priority," "Healthcare Bills," "Support")
Organize your label list (drag to reorder)
Delete unused labels
See which bills are tagged with each label

Troubleshooting Portal Access
"I don't see a Settings option" → Make sure you're logged in. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner. Settings should appear in the dropdown.
"I see Settings but some tabs are missing" → You may be a Member, not an Admin. Members only see Profile Settings. Ask your Admin to upgrade your role if you need full access.
"The portal page won't load" → Try clearing your browser cache, or try a different browser. If it still fails, contact support@stateaffairs.com.
"I can see the portal but can't make changes" → Verify you have Admin permissions. Only Admins can manage billing, team members, and seats.
